First, the rental company was great to work with; they are very efficient and professional. The Shack is not as nice as photos, but it is fine for the price. It is in the few blocks that surround most Southern Cal beaches. Those few blocks are made up of super crowded beach shacks that are older, on small lots with crowed, narrow streets. There is no street parking, but in front of the shack there is enough space for 2 smaller cars to the right of the patio and one smaller car in front of the patio. If you park in the street you will get a ticket. The Shack is remodeled, but still shows some age. One of the queen bedrooms is a converted garage off the kitchen. Some windows did not have screens and since there is no air conditioning you needed to open the windows. In the evenings you get cool breezes off the ocean, so only in the day time in the summer is no air conditioning a problem. The bathroom sink had ants, but the owners had left Raid, so one spray got rid of the problem. You are several blocks from the beach, but it is not a bad walk. The tile floors are nice to keep the sand down. In my son’s bed there was some sand in the bed, but once it was cleaned out it was fine. The kitchen table is small for 4 people, but the kids wanted to eat out on the front patio, so it was not a problem. The skylights make the place feel bigger and provide excellent light, but it does make you wake up with the sun. The fridge was modern and roomy. There was even a separate small wine fridge. The kitchen had the nicest remodel. There is free wi-fi, but when all 4 folks are on it, it is a little slow, but it worked fine when it was only one person. My only real complaint was that it took a long time to get our deposit back. We left the Shack on July 26th and the postmark on the deposit refund check was August 15th. They rental office says that the state law allows them 21 days to refund a deposit, and they seem to take all of that 21 days.

During the summer months, our office is extremely busy trying to process claims from multiple different tenants at all of our properties so this slows down the process quite a bit. However we are glad you had a good stay and look forward to any future vacations you have with us!
